| Bartlomiej Antoniewski's choice of a career was determined by his fascination with the briar wood; its beauty, variety of shape and sculptural opportunities it offers to carve pipes.
From 1985 to 1986 he worked under Ryszard Filar- a well-known and and highly regarded master craftsman- creating new models of carved pipes. The skill learnt there helped in establishment of his own firm in 1989; he has been producing not only pipes but also miniature sculptures out of briar wood. In 1991 he presented his miniatures (netsuke) at a solo show in the Muzeum Azji i Pacyfiku (the Museum of Asia and Pacific) in Warsaw. Since 1993 he has been participating in annual art craft fairs in Germany ( in Altensteig, Weinheim and Greetsiel). In 1996 and 1997 he presented his pipes in the illustrated catalogue DAN PIPE; the presentation was accompanied by a customized portrait pipes offer: pipes carved from a photograph. Since then a substantial number of portrait pipes have been produced for collectors worldwide, and such pipe firms as: VAUVEN, SAVINNELLI and PETERSON. In 1997 he showed his works at the pipe exhibition in Bialystok and in 2000 at a show accompanying an exhibition of handicraft at the Muzeum Narodowe Ziemi Przemyskiej. (The National Museum of Przemysl Region). Besides portrait pipes his offer comprises pipes decorated with animal and floral motifs as well as abstract and geometrical forms and motifs to do with hunting; there is also a possibility of ordering a pipe crafted from customer own drawings. The pipes are produced from the best quality materials, entirely hand-made and covered with natural wax coats. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
